I too have a bionic Berner. Stormy was 6 months when he had elbow surgery on both elbows. I too don't regret ever doing the surgery or the countless injections, or vet trips. I did do my own therapy though, lucky to have a lake to do it in.
I thought the same $40 bucks, wow, i can save the money up when the dysplasia hits, guess what? it hits before they are a year.
get insurance for at least 2 years, it will more then pay for it self if something happens.
I couldn't imagine not getting the surgery for stormy, now i have to pay a lot more then insurance premium.
