That does seem a tad small. My berner is 9 months old and 65 lbs, and we had him neutered at 4 months. I was told that since his parents were on the smaller side (father: 100 lbs and mother: 90 lbs) his life span might be longer than a larger berner; 10 years instead of 6-8 years, potantially. I would suggest you take the life span issue into consideration before deciding not to breed him. I actually regret fixing mine because there are tons of people who would love a berner but do not want to pay $2,000+ for one...berners are wonderful dogs and I'm sure many people who don't want a 120 lb dog would love a smaller one
