My 13 yo Great Pyr mix has hip dysplasia. She goes up and down the stairs, albeit slowly, several times a day. Our staircase is pretty steep due to high ceilings in the house. Besides 5 steps is not a lot. My girl has to climb up and down 14!
My 16 month old Berner, on the other hand, won't go up and down the stairs at all except for those going from the deck to the yard. I'd like him to go up because when he hears the rest of us awake upstairs he starts to woof and we have to go down. Anyone else have any experience with that?
I wouldn't not get a Berner because of steps. Hope that helps.
