Old Switching from puppy to adult.
Junior Member
Hi guys,

Been feeding my Berener (girl) on IAMS puppy for Large breeds. I picked this puppy food because it had the lowest protein out of all of them I could find (here in the UK), she has been very well on it.

She is now nearly 5 months and has all her adult teeth and I was beginning to think about switching her to adult food.

Would you guys say this is too soon or ok with a big breed like her?

thanks,

Our vet had us change Riley to adult food around 6 months. Maybe check with your vet just to be sure.....

Thanks, only problem is, there are a few vets at my local practice. One of them has said no adult food till at least 12 months, another said get onto adult food as soon as possible...

Not really sure what to do..

Both our vet and our breeder believed it was better to wait till after a year to switch to adult food. There is usually extra glucosamine in the puppy food for their joints. I don't think we switched our Girl over until around 15 months.

storm was a year before he got switched. I actually had to switch him to a weight loss one. We have to be careful with his weight and can not seem to get it off because he can not exercise long.

We have a 4.5 month old Berner named Charlie. Our breeder suggested to mix puppy and adult food at 6 months and then transition to adult food at 1 year.
