Is it necessary to feed large breed dog food to my Berner puppy? He's five months old with a sensitive stomach. Is anyone feeding adult food to their puppy?

If you can get a food 18-26% thats ideal for Bernese
The fat content should be no more than 16%. Ideally it should be under the 16%. Heres a good place to have a read regarding feeding Bernese. Dog Food Feeding Berner Puppies and adults |

Hello,
We had a heck of a time trying to find the perfect food for our boy. Our vet recommended either Oijen or Taste of the Wild, but keep in mind it's awesome food for ALL dog's and isn't specifically formulated for Berners, so we started off with Canidae and Diesel was very adament about eating it. I did extensive research on other foods and he is now on TOW all life stages and loves it, yes it is higher in protein but here is the info on it: Protein: 25% Fat: 15% Calcium: 1.6%, as-fed; Phosphorus: 1.0%, as-fed Calories: 3,611 kcal/kg It's the only food he'll eat and want more, he's a very picky boy with a very sensitive stomach. check out dogfoodanalysis.com and read up on the different brands, it's trial and error really. Where I'm from the Global Pet Foods allows you to return food if your dog doesn't like it with money back guarentee. Good luck. |

At five months adult dog food should be fine. Just make sure any food you pick has protein content around 20% or more, for growing puppies need more proteins in their diet.
