Old deer bone

Kinda of a weird question. My boss game me a deer femur with some meat still on the bone for my berner. Anyone ever done this?

I know bones are "dangerous" and whatever, but i can keep an eye on him and pull it away if it splinters. What i'm trying to figure out is if is should cook it a little before giving it to him, or just let him eat it raw? If i don't cook it the bone will be more solid and splinter less easily, but he's never eaten anything raw.

He will be fine just watch his teeth as I think the femur may be a weight bearing bone. Under no circumstances cook a bone of any knd if feeding to your dog this is what makes them dangerous and splinter always feed raw.

Weight bearing bones can wear the teeth if given to often or sometime break the teeth but if supervised and removed after a while all should be fine and your Berner will love it.
