Getting a new puppy is so exciting. It brings a new found happiness & love to your home all over again. Hearing some of you say you have to chose from pictures or videos makes me realize that I am very fortunate to always been able to sit on the ground and let a puppy chose me. Please post some pictures of your new fur babies as soon as you bring them home. I cant wait to see them.

I am excited for you! Our breeder actually picks the pup for us. They got to know us, our life style, etc. and do their best to match the pup to the personality and style of the new owner. We are some distance from them as well, but made efforts to communicate with them on a regular basis. E-mail, etc. Actually became friends! Maybe you can use this info to help you. Good Luck. I am jealous...we don't get our pup until January.

Actually it is never a good idea to pick a puppy strictly from pics and at an age so early such as 4 weeks.

Puppies should be placed based on temperament and should be matched with the family.

Responsible breeders always do the puppy selection for their buyers as they know these puppies best based on spending at least 8 weeks with them. Responsible breeders have the litter professionally temperament tested and evaluated in the last week they are with the said breeder - any sooner is not valid. Show quality is distinguished from pet quality and temperaments are matched to the family profiles to ensure an optimal match for all, especially if there are young kids or other pets in the house.

Any breeder who is not providing temperament information, including energy level, ranking within the litter and temperament results and is merely allowing people to select based on no information via pictures - is a backyard breeder so please beware.

It likely begs the next question distinguishing a responsible breeder from a backyard breeder which is the contract and health certifications specified in said contract.....also beware.

Mhy breeder is a responsible breeder not a backyard breeder. The reason I am able to pick & chose after she has chosen what she keeps is because she is a very close friend. She knows my family and I well and that is why I consider myself lucky to be able to chose my own.

We got our puppy we named her Carly !!

She did super good in the car for 10 hours. We had to stop many times for bathroom breaks tho!
She only had one accident in the car.

She likes to bite and nibble me and barks at me too ! We're going on 2 days with no accidents in the house. Yah ! We have to take her out side every hour! At first she would have a few drinks of water and would pee right away !

I notice yesterday that one of her front leg seems to be deformed and we she walks she doesn't put much pressor on it . But she doesn't seem to be in pain! I'm going to get it check at the vet next monday I hope she's ok !! I'll let you know what the Vet says ! next week

Cheers !
Oh she's was 8 weeks on sunday and she;s 12.4 pounds already.

What exactly do you notice that makes you think she might be deformed? I sure hope it is nothing to worry about but I am curious as to what you are seeing.

Hi all
when i get the information from the vet I'll give you some news. It's hard to discribe what her paw looks like but it almost look like. She's double jointed. I wish I could get a good picture if I do i'll post it.

Is the paw turned outward at the wrist? If so, this is calpal valgus. Be sure to see an orthopedic specialist as a vet is not trained or skilled to diagnose such.

Our Guinness will be 5 months next week, we both work full time but luckily my Mom lives a mile away. When we were feeding him 3x a day she would come over about 2 hrs after we left for work to let him out, come back at noon for his mid day meal and again mid afternoon to let him out again. also as luck would have it, she works Tued & Wed but my mother in law has those days off, so he goes to her house those days. Also my wife is fortunate enough that she can work from home one day a week. so we throw that in the mix too. He's learning that there's nothing routine about our routine, every day is different & he's learning to roll with it.

Now that we're on a 2x feeding schedule, mom comes over for a couple of hours mid day to let him out of the crate to do his business & to play. We figure in another few weeks he won't need to go to Grammy's for the whole day, she can come & let him out midday like my mom does now. He's usually crated in the kitchen, although on the really humid days we're more comfortable with him in the bedroom with AC on low. in another month or so we're going to test out not crating but by limiting him to just the kitchen for just a few hours to see how he does.

Both moms are semi retired & my mom especially likes having "something to do"-- Monday Guinn was sick, & she ended up staying at our house all day-- she's having a blast with her grand puppy. We're thinking we'll continue with the daily visits in the future, we think its good for him having interaction with people throughout the work day.

wow, that was really cool and glad to hear it from you, your dog was doing great
