I just brought my first BMD puppy home. She is 7 weeks old and I was wondering what the best food for her would be. I was leaning towards Candiea. Any help would be great. Thanks

We brought home our new BMD boy home last Saturday at 8 weeks. I did some research and went with Wellness Large Breed Puppy. He was being fed Black Gold (crap in a bag) and had soft stool when we picked him up. The Wellness has not set will with his tummy either and his soft stool has gone to full blow wet stool. I think you need to pick a good food for what they need, buy a small bag and try it to see how they take to it. I'll am going to try Taste of the Wild next I think, maybe Canidae.
I have two yorkies that I feed Innova small breed to and they have done well and its a 5 star food on dogfoodanalysis.com. The large breed puppy Innova is a four star which is still good but I want to feed my pup the best. |

What do you think about Blue Buffalo? Does Taste of the Wild have a large breed puppy formula? Thanks. |

Changed over to Taste of the Wild and the soft stool vanished within 2 days. Great line of food, I even rotate flavors every 3 weeks without any problems. Conan is doing great on it!!! Hope this helps. |

My BMD is only 7 weeks old so I thought I should keep her on puppy food until she was 8-9 months that is why I might go with Blue buffalo. Thanks for your help. |

I cannot recomend dry foods as I feed raw. Here in the UK we do not have some of your brands either.
If you are thinking of changing food over when you bring your puppy home it is wise to start mixing the new food into the food breeder has been feeding so it is a gradual process of change and hopefully shouldn't unsettle their tummies too much. They can have soft stools or worse for many reasons when first brought home sometimes due to stress of the move from mum and litter mates as well as the change of food. |
