Recently I noticed my 5 month old berner was limping slightly during a walk. So after taking him to the vet I found out that he has torn or partially torn his ACL. The vet also did xrays and everything is fine with his bones and growth plates. The vet has put him on anti immflamatory meds and 'bed rest' for 2 weeks. She said if its partially torn it can heal this way but if its completely torn he will need surgery.

I am looking for some ideas of what to do to help my pup heal.

Is this a common injury for this breed?
