Will adding canned pumpkin (not pie filling) help firm up my dog's soft stools? I was told at the vet's office that it doesn't work for diarrhea but will help constipation.

I've read and been told that it helps with both constipation and diarrhea - I believe it's because canned pumpkin is high in fibre, so it helps the digestive system settle down in general.

It definately helps my girl with tummy troubles and the runs .

I use REAL pumpkin mixed with white rice for a couple days and not much else. I gradually mix it with crushed dry dog food

I think it will not work on diarrhea but, it’s rich in fiber so it's good with constipation. A great way to treat diarrhea is by supplementing the dog with zinc.
