Hey guys I have a 11 week old puppy named Benny. Everything was going fine and dandy until this morning. We woke up around 7am and went out side and did his business. Came back in and he ate all of his breakfast. Ran around like a puppy does then asked to go out. We went outside he again did his business and then puked. Puked all of his food out not once but close to 10 times. He was due for his second parvo shot today, but the vet decided to hold off on it. Took him in they gave him some fluids and some pepsid to help with the puking. Also received his medicine for coccidia that he caught from our wonderful wild life lol. Anywho the vet recommended us to give him some rice and chicken for dinner tonight. Everything was fine he swallowed it like no tomorrow and started to run around and play like he always does. 2 hours later he puked again. This time he puked only 4 times. He still plays and chews on me and the family like he usually does. I tried to call the vet but they where closed. Any advice on what to do next. Im going to give the vet a call tomorrow and see what they want me to do. But any advice is welcome.! Thanks in advance

I am sure he will be fine... Unless it gets worse, I would just wait until you can go see your vet in the morning. Puppies can get an upset stomach just like we can. When Riley was a pup, he had more that one bout of being pukie for a day or two. And then he would suddenly be fine.....until the next time he ate a TV remote or a bowl of walnuts ( and I mean the bowl and the walnuts )
I would try to make sure he is drinking water so that he doesn't get dehydrated. Let us know how he is ......Good luck. |

Can you keep him calm for at least 1/2 hour after eating ? Or get hold of one of the slow down bowls maybe he is gulping his food to fast then running around straight after that is making him sick.
Some people put a tennis ball or ball of some kind in the food bowl to stop them gulping and taking in too much air. If that doesn't work then maybe another vet trip is required. |

Hello,
I was going to say pretty much the same thing Lynn said. It is very important to always have calm/quiet time before and after the feeding of your dog no matter what the age. It is a good habit to start. |

At the risk of beating the drum here - never let a puppy over exert himself after eating (risk of bloat is high so know your bloat symptoms and risks). No running, jumping, or rolling should be allowed for 1 hour after eating. I know this can be challenging for a young puppy but important.
Odds are this is the cause of the problem...but if not, gastritis is a possibility (inflammation in the tummy). If you stop the exertion, you can rule this in or out, and go from there. |
