Bella was diagnosed with OCD at 14 months and had two cartilage fragments taken out of her right front elbow August 2011. She was like a new dog after a long recovery but has just started limping again the last couple of weeks. It's hard to tell if it is the same leg but we believe it is. Does anyone have any experiences with this. She is really excited still to go for her daily walks and when let off leash she runs without the limp. We are very careful with her and she seems really happy still except for this slight limp. We have cut back on the walks but she is very restless and doesn't want to settle down until she has gone for a walk. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I would take her to the vet.
Yes, we have experience with this. storm has elbow issues as well. On a leash he limps bad, when off he runs, and jumps extra. It is easier for him off leash because he has a special walk or run. He can walk with out a limp but it is faster then what the normal walk is. take her back to the vets please. |

Just letting you know that Bella had her left elbow operated on two weeks ago and had some small cartlage fragments removed. We are disappointed as she is actually limping worse than before the surgery. When she had her first surgery on her right elbow she was walking almost without a limp right away. It is early days so we are hoping she will continue to improve. We are looking forward to being able to take her for short walks soon.

do what the surgeon says please!!!!! storm was not allowed to walk, even short ones for a month. he had a limp and still has a limp. he had fragments but his bone had to be ground down. he also had early signs of arthritis. He does run, walk, play etc even though he limps. Bella should be ok because she just had fragments but a limp is ok too. they are better after the healing process but don't push it. please. |

We are being very careful with her. Today was the first day she has been out and we only went to the end of our drive way and back. Surgeon said there was already evidence of arthritis in the elbow so we are keeping our fingers crossed that she will continue to improve. We have been extremely careful with her since we got her at 12 weeks and love her just the way she is. I just hope she can get back to enjoying her walks.
