Old Not Eating Much
Junior Member
Bauer is 11 weeks old and we have had him for 4 days. He dosnt seem to eat much maybe once a day like 2 cups. We switched him from the breeder food which was canidae large breed puppy at 32% protein to Go! All Natural at 24% Protein. Was this a bad switch or?

Maybe he just needs time to settle. Everything is new to him at the moment.

Our puppy wasn't eating much the first 4 days either but he seems to have gotten his appetite back now. I think it was the food as well he didn't like very much.

What's the recommended feeding amount for Bauer's weight? Maybe it's a denser, more nutrient-rich food so he doesn't need to eat as much of it.

I feed my dog with raw food. I think it has more advantages than other dog diets.

Hi, Congrats on you new puppy.
Its hard to say exactly how much food it correct. 2 to 2 1/2 cups seems about right for 11 weeks but you really have to go on his weight and how he feels to you. Can you feel his ribs. They shouldn't be sticking out and their shouldn't be big groves between them but you should be able to easily feel them. Kind of like a wash board. You don't want a fat puppy so alittle lean is better for them. Four days is not long so he might still be adjusting and is alittle out of sorts. I feel and this is just my thought that a ll week old puppy still needs to be fed 3 smaller meals a day, I know this can be a pain but aleast 2 meals. It might just be to much food at one time for him to eat at one time so he doesn't seem to be eating enough to you. Try dividing the 2 cups into smaller portions and see if he finishes each meal. I think the protein % is fine. Does he seem to like the food? He might just be getting use to that. Are his poops ok with the switch to the new food? Has he been wormed? Those nasty worms can make them feel bad and he might just not feel like eating. Anyway, you can always ask your vet if they think his weight is good and if he is getting enough or to much. Good luck with your baby
Katie
