Old dominant behavior?

My seven month old Bernese puppy has a habit of sometimes getting nippy to me and will bite at my clothes. Lately, he's been also trying to wrap one of his front legs around me while he does this. I eventually can make him sit and then lie down but was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this kind of behavior?

Hi, My 6 month old has been doing the same thing. I also have an 19 month who did the same thing. I just kept being firm and trying to redirect his behavior when he did this and he grew out of it. He is a very passive male. I'm not so sure about this new little guy. He is much more vocal and determined. He trys to mount my older one. I've just been doing the same thing with lots of positive reinforcement and treats when I can get his behavior redirected. He is also much more mouthy and likes to grab at your hands. Wish I had more advise but my big guy did grow out of it with lots of positive training.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Motomom. Good to know that there's a chance he'll grow out of this behavior. I'm trying to be firm also and at times have to give him a leash correction before he'll snap out of it.

Your welcome, I think the thing is to be really consistent in letting him know that is unacceptable behavior.
