Hi all,

I am a first time Bernese Mountain dog mommy. Milly, my Berner is 15 weeks old and currently I am feeding her three meals a day. When would it be okay to move to two meals a day. At what age? or weight? Thank you for your help.

We did it around 4 months old and did it gradually. We would give a little more at night and the morning and less at lunch. Eventually we just eliminated the lunch meal. I thought it would be harder on him because he LOVES to eat, but he did just fine. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your help. Milly is 15 weeks old and she will be 16 weeks when we finally get her off of the lunch time meal. I also called my vet and he gave me the okay. Thank you again for your help.

I think Molly was about 6 months when we did that. I was home at the time though so there was no rush.
We found she ate super fast though so we would often just throw her Kong in her dish to give her something to work around to slow her down a little.

You could carry on with the 3 meals a day plan till Milly is six months old, and then switch to 2 meals. Just see that you monitor your dog's weight to keep it at an ideal weight level.

You can go to 2 meal a day in 5 - 6 month but make sure that u do not overfeed ur dog as you are giving 2 meals
