Old Bernese Structure - What they should look like
Senior Member
Since I have been seeing so many first time questions about structure and what individual owners are seeing in their own dogs, I thought I would post the BMD standard illustrated as this often helps folks understand what is proper, and what these "faults" actually look like....

Here it is:

BMD Hindquarters

These illustrations do a great job of outlining common problems that are detrimental to the breed and may illustrate what some of you are seeing in your own dogs. If so, this will help you understand how it affects your dog as well and why your dog does certain things, or rather, cannot do certain things (I often explain to people why their dogs physically can't swim due to structure for example).
