Hi - I am a first time Berner owner. Fred is 7months old. He has lost his puppy fuzz, except around the ears. The fur on his lower back is curly and has a different texture than the fur on his sides and front. Will his fur change as he gets older or will he just have partly curly hair?

My 11 month old has the funny ear hair too, and some subtle curls here and there. If you don't have an undercoat rake (brush) I would suggest one. After a good brushing Charlie looks more smooth haired.

Thanks, I will look into get an under coat brush and see if that makes his hair look smoother. He just may have a little extra curl. We get a lot of comments about his hair looking curly. We think is a beautiful regardless.

Hi I have a 1 yr old who still have lite brown ear fuzzy and the hair on his back is curly and the sides more straight. Looks silly, His half brother who just turned two has a more silkly coat. It seems at about 18 months it started getting more straight and longer. I hope my younger one get a nice coat like his half brother but maybe he will just stay curly. Eitherway, they are the best ![]() ![]() |
