OH the "puppy days" !!!!! I really dont envy you there. I dont know if you have read any of my other posts, but Riley has steroid responsive meningitis. He first showed symptoms at just a few months old. This made training even harder. I sometimes found it really hard to be as stern as I needed to be so he got away with more than he really should have. And you are right , Berners are STUBBORN. Riley was also a "counter surfer". Every single day, he would get something off the counter and eat it. He once ate a glass dish that was filled with nuts (still in the shell)! But that will get better, I promise. It took a full year for him to be what I would call comepletely trained. It was almost over night that he stopped getting into / eating / chewing whatever he could find. He used to use me as a chew toy too. Not a vicious bite, just playing, but it really hurt. I had bite marks all over my arms. You could hardly pet him unless he was asleep, he just wanted to play, play, play ! I wouldnt trade 1 minute of him being a puppy though, I just dont want to do it again. Just hang in there it will get easier.
