My Berner has a new spot (I'm assuming it' new since i've never seen it before) on her mouth underneath her tongue. It's about the size of a pencil eraser and not raised. Is it just an age spot or something I should get checked?

My experience has always been when in doubt...call the vet! It probably is absolutely nothing, but it never hurts to be sure. You will just worry until you know something. That is how I am anyway. lol

Got it checked out today....we made an appt b/c my poor girl was peeing a lot and had a spot of blood....sure enough a UTI (not such a happy V-Day for her!) but in true Berner spirit you wouldn't know there is a thing wrong as she's been her happy go lucky self! The black spot is just pigment but nice to have it looked at for peace of mind! Always good to know my girl is ok!

Sorry about the UTI...poor puppy. But glad to know everything is good !

I'm reading these posts with interest and hope that the outcome is as negligible for my 5 year old male, Boone. I first saw a faint mark on the top side of his tongue last fall. The vet thought it could be something - or nothing... just wanted me to watch it. It has now grown in size to about 1/4" round and is a bit darker but still very smooth. We are doing a punch biopsy next week to make sure it isn't melanoma. Keeping my fingers crossed and trying not to get too worked up waiting to see if it's cancerous.

Wonder if anyone else has seen a dark, smooth spot on their Berner's tongue.
