hi i am pretty sure my berner barney who is 7 months old is losing his hair aorund his eyes, if you are looking straight on at him the hair loss i think is on the inside of the eyes so on the left of the right eye and on the righ tof the left eye facing into his nose, what could this be

If the hair loss is symmetrical - meaning on both eyes then this is classic allergies - severe allergies.

If on just one eye, then a skin scrape is in order to test for demodectic mange.

Given your description, sounds like allergies and severe immune system dysfunction. This is usually triggerd by over-assault of the immune system in this breed (vaccines + chemicals).

If licking paws, itching, or otherwise rubbing face as well, then severe efforts are in order or the condition will worsen year by year. This would include diet improvement (namely quality of protein), supplements such as Beta-Thym and mineral supplements, regular cool bathing, air purification and overall pollen cleaning.

My dog had that happen to him but it was mange. They had to do skin scrapes a few times and some meds It went away and his hair is back and looking great now.

I suggest you use oatmeal soap. This is to promote hair growth. I think you can buy this soap on local pet stores.
