Old Cute things

I thought it would be fun to post some cute or neat things our Berners do. Maya is our first so some of things she does, I don't know if there are Berner things or just Maya things!

I will start. I am sure I will think of more as other post.

Maya uses her nose ALL of the time! She pushes it onto your hand
when she wants attention. Also, she HAS to sniff our mouth when she
greets us. Hard to explain but she puts her nose right to our mouth.
We have had her for almost 5 months and she has not "picked" one
of us. We don't have children, it is just the 2 of us. She does not
have a favourite, she goes to us and listens to exactly the same.

Good topic! This should be interesting to see if they do some of the same things.......Riley likes to lay on you...or at least be touching you. If you are watching TV he wants to be laying across your lap! All 130 lbs of him. If he isnt on the couch with you, he wants to have his head on your leg, or his back end laying next to your feet. He just wants to get as close as he can no matter how uncomfortable it is for any of us

Maya is like that a lot of the time but she often likes to lay by the entrance. But talking about uncomfortable positions, that dog will twist and crunch her body up just to flop herself on you...it is quite funny.

TWIST AND FLOP! Thats exactly what Riley does too! He can be sitting on the couch and somehow lean back so that he is sitting just like we do, and then all of a sudden throw his weight over to the left or the right depending on which side you are on and Bam! And there are arms and legs, and paws going everywhere! Sometimes I cant even get myself out from the mess!

Nice thread!

Della does this almost every time we come into the room, but definitely after we've been eating, as if to say "you've been eating something yummy, just let me see, now what was it...ah yes I'm picking up a hint of bacon" just like one of those wine experts!

Can't say she does the couch thing because we don't let her up there, but she does love sitting on your feet when we're out in public - I guess it's a feeling of security but will be great in the winter!

Ollie does most of these things too.
If we are sitting in the chair, he will back up onto our feet with is back against your legs and demand a fuss. With my OH he insists on getting on his lap with the chair in recline position the times they have both collapsed on the floor.
He also nudges with his nose if wants attention it might be your hands and if you have your back to him its your bottom he nipped my OH's last night for attention. I love the funny ways they have.

We live in Chile...yes on the bottom of the earth...and just adopted our Bernese. Her name is Zoe and she is so much fun. She likes to sit on my feet when I'm in the kitchen or lean against me when I'm sitting at the table.

She is only a couple of months old now but boy is she HUGE. When we walk her all the Chileans stop what they are doing to look at her. Every once in a while someone will be brave enough ask about her. They've never seen anything like her before as most Chileans have German Shepards that they use exclusively as guard dogs. Plus she is so beautiful.

I work for the Dept of State and unfortunately I'm probably not going to be able to take Zoe to my next posting. I'm not sure what we will do then but I'll worry about that when I have to. We are going to try and bring her to the states when we come home for Christmas, however, getting her back to Chile will be a HUGE PAIN but we will be America for a long time and will miss her if we leave her here with a sitter.

Zoe is the sweetest dog I've ever had and I just love those big brown eyes.

Speaking of cute things...Has anyone been to Costco lately? The have a gigantic Bernese Mountain Dog stuffed animal. It's huge! My daughter set it on the floor and was riding it like a horse. It's $50 and at my Costco they spelled Bernese "Bernise".

Just thought I would pass it along if anyone wanted to check it out.

Old So your Berners sort?

Mirabelle does the muzzle snuggle thing as well. She noses our hands away from the keyboard the remote the book-anything to get love. Also Mira is a sorter. Do any of your Berners do this? She sorts her toys by material. She also sorts things like shoes, bones, anything she can get her mouth on and she thinks is out of place.

One day when she was a puppy, we found a whole pile of stuffed animals under at tree. Three feet away we found another pile - this one of Barbecue tools. As she grew up she continued the habit.

I think it has to do with the fact that she loves to carry things. She always has something in her mouth. Especially in the midst of an exciting transition like if a person she loves enters the room, if she is about to go outside or if she is getting ready to go to the car for a ride. She will run around looking for the right thing to bring with her.
