My Lily is 3 months old. She has been progressing well with house training. We are using the crate training method. But, we took a step back yesterday as she peed in her crate. It is almost as if she realized she had to go, whimpered for a second to let us know, and then let it go. I also noticed during a span of 45 minutes of play time outside, she peed 4 times. And, she went in her crate again this morning after we limited her water intake and monitored her going outside. Does this sound like an bladder infection? Good news is we have a vet appt today. I am so bummed that we seemed to have taken a step back and now have to start all over with Lily.

I don't think it's a question of starting over... she has physical limitations at the moment, being so young. I expect accidents will happen. Are you keeping to a routine? and taking her outside 8 x plus a day? that's what I did in the beginning. Actually about 10, and each time I gave water (so I knew when he drank) I took him outside.
Limiting water (dehydration) can have that effect on the bladder. Controlling the water is a different matter. I didn't limit how much my puppy drank except for at night, I just controlled when he drank during the day so I could get him out shortly after. I think a bladder infection can be caused by dehydration also. |
