Old Found stray, is this a Berner?

Hi all! A pup showed up at my hubby's work a few days ago. We've been trying to locate it's family, but no luck so far. I took it into the vet tonight...no microchip and at first they said Bernese, which is what I thought she was. Then they said she didn't look quite big enough and maybe had some Australian Shephard instead.

She looks SO much like a Berner, but is off by a couple things. The feet, especially one, has too much white, and her muzzle isn't surrounded by white. But everything else seems to match from what I can tell. Even the white on the tip of the tail. I can't figure out if it's a Berner with different markings or if it's a mix of some kind. I really don't care either way, but it would be nice to know what she is.

I'll try to add attachments, let's see if this works. Any opinions appreciated! She's just a dollbaby. Great disposition, very easy going pup so far. The vet thinks she's about 3 months old if that helps.

Thanks much!

Cyndi

What a sweet heart she is! My guess is that she's a berner with some different markings. It is hard to tell what the markings are when they are still pups. Rileys changed ALOT as he got older. A good bit of the white seem to disappear from his legs and from his face. He also had a white spot on the back of his head and it went comepletely away.. If she is a mix, I still think she a more Bernese than anything else.

If you cant find the family are you planning on keeping her? They really are fantastic dogs. You will love her! You probably already do. lol

Thanks for your response. The vets office thought she is an Aussie and the pics of tri color Aussies seem to look like her. Her ears are longer though, so she must be a mix of some kind. Still haven't found her owners, so I guess she's staying with us. :-)

She sure is a sweetheart, but she's definitely got a lot of berner. Markings can come in all different variants and Berners can look very unique especially in the white (we've looked at MANY in the process of getting our pup). The variable coat patterns are just differing gene expression which happens all the time.
At least in the pictures, your girl does not have the 'Collie' nose or bone structure. She has the large paws, a broad chest bone, a tail and the crimpled ear hair that are very characteristic of the breed
We've had a lot of people who aren't familiar with the breed ask if our pup is a border collie or an aussie, but its only because of the tri-markings and her smaller stature.

If you can't find her original family, I wish you all the best. Berners are definitely a lot of joy!!! Enjoy her as she grows

I imagine when she gets bigger we will be able to tell a little more. A couple who saw her said they were looking into a Bernese and asked if she was one. The vets office thought Bernese at first, and then said Aussie. She doesn't have the Aussie ears. I suppose we'll wait and see as she gets older. Thanks again for the feedback!
