I'm Tabby. Our family is considering getting a Berner. We'd like to learn more about the breed.

I own a male and female pair that I adore and have started a blog for them. I welcome you to read 2 articles on BMD's that I wrote - I have links on my blog. I'd be happy to share any experiences - I've been smitten with Berners since I saw my first one 6 years ago!

We rescued our BMD in October after he allegedly caused injuries to a smaller dog. He is 125 pounds and 5 years-old.
I could not be happier with him. At 64 years of age, he is the best dog I have ever had. He is wonderful with people, affectionate and gentle with children. We live in Vermont on 25 acres of land. We walk him at least twice daily. He runs in the snow, plays with twigs and other sticks and responds well to commands. We take care of all his medical needs and hope to have him for a long time. However, the average life span of the BMD might preclude this. We would adopt another BMD if and when this happens. |
