Hi my name is Jamie. We were interested in the Bernese breed and did some research before getting Ruger. I was a little scared about how big the breed gets because we have 4 small children with the youngest being 8 months old. We have had some issues with him getting so excited and not watching where he is going and stepping on the baby, but other than that he is a really good dog. More like a child than an dog.

We "rescued" our 5 year-old dog-aggressive BMD in October. Since then, we have had 5 of our grandchildren to our home. He has been wonderful with them. With 2 year-old twins, and 6,8 and 10 year-old girls, he was a bit "frisky" but responded well to our cautionary commands.
I shall be serving as a campground host in Alaska this summer and plan to take my BMD along.
