Old Our first Berner, FL

My husband and I recently married June 5, 2010. We got our Berner puppy in Alabama in December 2009 and we are completely in love with him. We drove over 500 miles to pick him up. He was one of 11 beautiful puppies. I chose him because he had the most white on his paws out of all of his siblings, which I guess is a flaw by breeders standards, but we do not plan to show him so it made no difference to us.
He is almost 9 months old and is a perfect pup. He has short bursts of energy followed by hours of laziness. I have noticed that he preferrs the company of other dogs to people. Though he has become attached to me the most. He follows me everywhere and always has his eyes on me.
I hope I don't get bashed on this site for having a berner in Florida. Yes, I do realize than he is a mountain dog and I did a considerable amount of research before I purchased him. He is kept indoors at all times with fans on him almost 24/7. We also pay a buttload of money in electric bills because we keep our AC @ 72 degrees at all times, but he's worth it. We only take him outside for short periods of time during the day, since it gets up to 100 degrees, and exercise him at dawn and dusk. He loves to swim in our pool and go to the dog beach. We also plan to take him to see snow once a year for a family vacation. So before you judge, think of how much you love your berner, and how everyone (no matter what climate they live in) should get to experience the love of this remarkable breed.

Wow, this site is dead. I'm off to find a more social forum. Good luck with your berners!
