Hello there,

I am new to the forum but not a new berner owner. I have had my girl Nika since she was 8 weeks old and she turned 7 back in February. I won’t lie that at the time that I got her I mostly wanted a dog that was "fluffy", but hey I was 12 . We found her breeder and met their dogs and I fell absolutely in love with the breed. I have had so many happy years with her and I am looking forward to as many more as possible.

Sadly Nika passed away on the 25th of October from Leukemia. :,(

I'm very sorry to learn that your dear Nika has passed on. It sounds like she had a wonderful life with you and was much loved. She was a lucky girl. Take care.

I am so sorry to hear about Nika. My heart breaks for you. She was a beautiful girl and I am sure she had a wonderful life because of you.

I am so sorry for your loss - never easy I know. You must mean that she died from histiocytosis however (much like Leukemia in humans) so just know this is epidemic in the breed and the reason the average age is 7.
