So, aside from very soft stools, my boy also has some outrageous thirst.

I know this is usually normal for pups, and I was trying to rationalize it as his large size and a young age.
But it still seems to be over the top to me.

Is this common with bernese? Or is this indicative of an underlying health problem?

I know I need to take him to the vet, I'm just trying to get a better idea of what might be the possible issue.

    Thanks again!

The average dog needs between 1/2 ounce to 1 ounce of water per pound of body weight in a given day could be more if it is really hot out side. So I'm sure your puppy is drinking normally. We have two big water bowls out at all times for ours. Some days she drinks more then other days. We let her decide how thirsty she is. The worst thing you could do is not give your boy enough water. But check with your Vet on this.
